(More customer reviews)Using a Kensington LiquidAUX with a 2007 Prius & iPhone 3G, I used to get a whine with the car running due to the ground loop between power and audio grounds.
With this cable, plus a 3.5mm stereo male to male adaptor, the whine is totally gone as the ground loop is broken. No background noise even at max volume with the phone paused - perfect! No perceptible impact on sound quality either - though theoretically you may lose some of the very low end depending on system impedances.
Is this for you? If you have background noise when your car is running but not when the engine is off, then this should fix your problem.
